On July 7 and 8, I joined English teachers from Brazil and abroad for the Braz-Tesol SIG Symposium, in São Paulo. SIG stands for “Special Interest Groups”, an initiative that brings together individuals who share a common interest for areas such as pronunciation, translation, culture, teacher education and technology for language learning.
The event, which took place at Instituto Singularidades, gathered around 300 professionals, many of whom presented the sixty concurrent workshops and oral presentations, as well as four plenary sessions throughout the two days of the meeting.
Besides myself, BRAZ-TESOL RN was represented by Fernando Guarany and Thiago dos Santos. Thiago, with his kindness and volunteering spirit, worked as a minder. Fernando, who is also member of the BT National Board, was responsible for two sessions.
I also presented a session entitled “Intercultural experience mediated by the internet: a telecollaborative project”, which was part of the “Intercultural Language Education SIG”.
The experience was amazing! We could meet awesome people and make priceless connections! I am really looking forward to attending the next Braz-Tesol event!
